Intel Faces Setback as German Court Sides Against Them in Chip Patent Dispute

In a recent development, a German court has issued an injunction prohibiting the sale of certain Intel chips as part of an ongoing patent dispute between the American tech giant and a U.S. competitor that initiated the complaint. The regional court in Dusseldorf sided with California-based R2 Semiconductor in a case centered around voltage regulators, as confirmed by a court spokesperson and previously reported by the Financial Times.

The court's ruling instructs Intel to abstain from applying the disputed patent within Germany. Responding to the decision, an Intel spokesperson expressed disappointment and stated their intention to appeal the verdict. According to the spokesperson, R2 Semiconductor had previously filed an unsuccessful lawsuit against Intel in the United States and has now shifted its legal campaign against the company to Europe.

Efforts to obtain comments from R2 Semiconductor were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
